ABOUT THE EVENT
Bats are an important part of our ecosystem, but their natural habitats are disappearing - they need our help! You can welcome bats in your very own backyard by providing food, water, and shelter – like a bat house! In return, insectivorous bats will eat many of your unwanted garden pests. A single little brown bat can consume more than 1,000 mosquito sized insects in an hour. A modest colony of 75 bats can devour up to 75,000 insects in a single hour 🤯 Sounds like a pretty great lil neighbor to have, plus they are so fun to watch swooping through the night sky🦇🌔
This event is FREE! Tools, Materials + Snacks will be provided! Learn about ways to make your space bat-friendly, and take home a finished bat house to install.
Space is limited and reserved for our Indigenous relatives, so online signup required! We always have a waiting list for this workshop, so if you sign up, please be sure to attend! If you sign up and later find that you cannot attend, please let us know so we can open up your spot to one of our folks on the waiting list 🧡
