ABOUT THE EVENT
For our second Sunday Soup Group, we are going with simple comfort food: old school Corn Soup. This is that staple of powwow camp dinner tables; stew meat cooked slowly with Cope's dried sweet corn, served with fry bread.
Chef Nico will share the simple recipe for this classic soup and talk about where this tradition came from. We will also have a hands-on fry bread and skillet bread workshop - get ready to get messy! We will discuss the history and controversy over fry bread, the ways it sustained our people, and the ways we can continue to enjoy it without letting it compromise our health.
