

Requirements

Indigenous Heritage: Participants must be enrolled members or descendants of a North American tribe.

Residency: Applicants must reside within the Tulsa metropolitan area.

Housing Requirement: Applicants must rent or own a home, apartment, or reside in any type of stable living situation with space available for either a 5-gallon bucket-sized container or a 4x8 ft raised garden bed. This ensures participants can actively engage in growing from their residence, even if space is limited.

Age Requirement: Applicants must be 18 years or older. Minors may participate with parental or guardian consent and supervision.

Commitment to Community Gardening: Individuals must demonstrate a genuine interest in community gardening and a willingness to participate in communal activities, including supporting future cohorts in the Sovereign Seeds Garden Collective.

Participation in Training: Applicants are expected to attend an orientation session focusing on sustainable gardening practices and Indigenous agricultural knowledge. Participants will also be expected to engage in ongoing conversation within the Sovereign Seeds Garden Collective Facebook Group to share and support fellow gardeners in the struggles and successes throughout the process.

Application Process: Interested individuals must complete an application form providing basic contact information, household details, gardening experience, and goals.

Priority Consideration: Applicants will be selected on a first-come-first-served basis, but preference may be given to applicants who are food insecure, have limited access to fresh produce, or are new to gardening.
